The Las Vegas metro area has two types of local governance: incorporated cities and unincorporated townships. Cities like Las Vegas and Henderson have their own city governments. In contrast, unincorporated townships like Spring Valley are managed by Clark County instead of having their own municipal government.

History and Geographic Information

Spring Valley was established in 1981 and developed primarily as a suburban residential area west of the Las Vegas Strip. Originally, consisting of farmland and desert terrain, it has since transformed into a densely populated urban community. The township spans approximately 33 square miles and is bordered by Summerlin South to the west, Paradise to the east, Enterprise to the south, and Las Vegas to the north.

This area has become Las Vegas’s unofficial  Chinatown, attracting locals and visitors alike. In addition, Spring Valley is home to several parks and recreational facilities, including  Desert Breeze Park, one of the largest parks in Clark County, offering sports fields, walking trails, and community events.

• The Lakes – A luxury residential community built around man-made lakes, offering waterfront homes and scenic views.

Population

As of the 2020 Census, Spring Valley had a population of approximately 215,597 residents. This makes it one of the most populous unincorporated towns in the United States.
